What else have you used to play games on your mobile phone besides the screen and the keypad? Nothing, of course. But all this is about to change in the near future because Nokia announced the future of the new N-Gage gaming platform.
It seems that the games launched on this platform will take advantage of the phone's features, like the integrated camera, the GPS receiver and any other feature that can make mobile gaming more attractive. If you are wondering if that is really possible, find out that game developers already started work at titles with this technology implemented. The GPS receiver can be used to provide or enable location based gaming content, but there aren't further details on this. One of the game developers declared that the camera is a much more interesting feature to use in games than the GPS receiver. His example was a tamagochi-like game where you can feed your pet with pictures of real food taken with the built-in camera. For most of us this sounds weird at least, but the producers are very confident that they will be appreciated for bringing something new to the market.
The concept behind this project is innovation and the question is if Nokia and the game developers can integrate these new ideas and also keep the interface friendly and non-complicated. On top of this, they should try and maintain the entertaining part without exaggerating the use of these features. This is Nokia's response to iPhone gaming and the future PSP Phone, both coming with revolutionary ideas, so this can be N-Gage's opportunity to take a serious advantage.
