When was the last time you've seen a mobile game with original title and content? Pretty sure it was either a very long time ago or you simply haven't met one. Is this another reason for a lot of people to consider this type of entertainment non-attractive? Probably yes since there's a lack of originality in almost all the entertainment industry, starting with books, music, movies, PC, console and mobile games.
Most of the actual mobile games are titles based on famous movies, console games or remakes of classic games like Tetris. Developers and especially publishers pay a huge amount of money for using well-known licenses in their titles, being confident that people will buy the game because of the name. This lead to the situation we meet in the mobile game industry today, when people spend lots of money on games that have a very poor content quality because developers and publishers invest more in licenses than in producing a good title. On the other side, there are small developers that cannot afford paying all that money to license holders and they either copy gameplay and ideas without any license, or try to do something original with their work. There is a vicious circle perpetuating here as these rare original games aren't purchased by any one because of the lack of a serious license. This way, originality in mobile games doesn't stand a chance, mostly because of the indifference users are showing to games developed by small studios without any license.
As long as the title and the license behind will continue to sell a mobile game, this industry will miss original content. Certainly, customers have a great guilt in this situation, as they continue to pay for these games while on the other hand complain about the quality of the content.
